Recital depicts the history and emotional transformation of my former dance costumes. Worn ages 3-8 and stained with childhood memories, these costumes were found in my father’s attic after his death. Reimagined as sculptures, they capture the unsettling feelings and qualities promoted in the sexualization of toddlers and young girls in dance competitions.
